I missed most of Raw this week. It was mostly intentional but I turned it on in time to see the aftermath of the Brock Lesnar/CM Punk confrontation. I immediately started texting my friend Erik, asking him to please tell me why my favorite wrestler (person) in the world was bleeding. (more…)

The July 15, 2013 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw was one of the top-to-bottom most enjoyable three-hour programs since they switched to 3 hours last summer. There were two big reasons for that. The first was because they were in front of a hot, enthusiastic crowd. New York is considered the “home market” for WWE and they were in the new Barclays Center (home of the Brooklyn Nets) for only the second time. It was the first time for Monday Night Raw. (more…)
I’ve wanted to do some type of awards article for the longest time now. Then that turned into doing an awards podcast, but Thomas and I never brought that to fruition (my fault, I was too busy making music). Then the idea got away from me until I realized what just passed: WrestleMania NY/NJ (XXIX!).
WrestleMania is in the air and the “grandest stage of them all” is poised for another monumental event. With WrestleMania 29 only days away, Mike “the Buzz-Saw” Asti welcomes a familiar wrestling talk foe – Kelen “B Hyphen” Conley, back to the HBS ring.
The ultimate media “heel” grapples with the ultimate media “baby face” (even more so than the Howitzer), as they discuss everything and anything going on in World Wrestling Entertainment, building up to the culmination of another WWE season. What do they think of the card? How does it stack up with past Wrestlemanias? How could this show have been set up differently? What will be the outcomes of each match and what will they lead to in the coming months? Will the buried and demoted stars return to the main event ranks post-mania?
John Cena and The Rock in a Wrestlemania 28 re-match. This time for the gold. Will it be better than last year’s match? Mike surely hopes so. Is their rivalry already stale? Is this now the perfect opportunity to FINALLY have Cena become a bad guy?! Maybe one day Mike and Kelen will agree on this age old wrestling argument. Not likely.
CM Punk challenges “The Streak” and the Undertaker defends Paul Bearer’s honor. Thoughts on the streak in general. And a guaranteed passionated debate on if the use of Paul Bearer’s death has been over the line. Vince McMahon loves the polarizing controversy and so does the Buzz-saw.
A long standing Randy Orton heel turn prediction will be reiterated throughout the broadcast, as the Howitzer and Buzz-saw Show welcomes WRESTLEMANIA to the program.
Mike “the Buzz-Saw” Asti is a legendary conquer. Like most Hall of Fame conquers, the Buzz-Saw doesn’t “job” for anyone. As he does with each breath on the mic, the Buzz-Saw conquers sports radio, one day, at a time…
Professional wrestling talk returns to the Howitzer and Buzz-Saw Show, and does so on the heels of another Pay Per View. The WWE’s Elimination Chamber is now in the books. Mike “the Buzz-Saw” Asti welcomes the ultimate “baby face” to his “heel” persona, as Kelen “B Hyphen” Conley steps back into the HBS ring. These two familiar foes go toe to toe recapping all the action. Expect candid analysis, occasional banter, predictions for what is to come in the coming months for World Wrestling Entertainment, and of course, hear how they would’ve done it all better. If CM Punk could lose his WWE Title, does that mean the Buzz-Saw could actually lose a sports talk session?!
Hear the guitar rip and soak in another installment of the HBS: Buzzed With The Buzz-Saw!
I can’t get used to seeing The Rock with CM Punk’s belt around his shoulder.
Politicians ask and beg for your vote, George “the Howitzer” Gerbo and Mike “the Buzz-Saw” Asti demand it! Barack Obama is still the President of the United States of America. While Democrats rejoice and Republicans plan to regroup for 2016, the country looks to reunite. One thing everyone can agree on, regardless of political affiliation, sports are the perfect recipe for a galvanizing effect.
The college football regular season is now in its final weeks. After crawling out of LSU undefeated, are the Crimson Tide all but destined for yet another shot at a National Title? Who would be their toughest competitor among the teams still lurking just behind the top squad? Another program with a lot of history, Notre Dame, is in the midst of a renaissance. The Fighting Irish are 9-0, having relied heavily on some leprechaun luck in a triple over-time victory of Pitt.
THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING (sense the sarcasm)! The Los Angeles Lakers are limping out of the gate. Can this newly formed All-Star team get their act together and become the championship contender they were put together to be? How close are the Lakers brass from pressing the panic button and shaking things up? Is this discussion totally ASININE only a couple weeks into the NBA season? To quote WWE’s Daniel Bryan, “YES! YES! YES!”
Before bowing up another gold quality broadcast, Mike and George keep tugging at their heart strings and take a look at the NHL Lockout. Talking is always progress in a collective bargaining agreement…
Of course, stay tuned for week 10 of the second annual HBS NFL Pick’em Challenge! The Redskin Rule was not upheld, but as usual, the Buzz-Saw reigned supreme. Like President Obama, the Howitzer better get to work!
All ballots are in, and the Howitzer and Buzz-Saw Show conquers sports radio, one day, at a time….
